A highly regarded national firm is currently recruiting for a Senior Payroll Consultant to complement their existing team based in Manchester. This a unique opportunity to join a firm that can offer excellent opportunities for progression along with an attractive remuneration package.

The Senior Payroll Consultant will report into the Payroll Supervisor, taking responsibility for providing accurate, timely and efficient payroll services to all clients.

The ideal candidate will be highly experienced with an in depth knowledge of processes, policies and regulations within payroll.

Responsibilities:

  • Payroll implementation / Star Payroll
  • Processing large and complex payrolls
  • Escalate potential service issues to payroll manager
  • Problem solving and dealing with complex queries from clients and third parties
  • Focus on fees and productivity for own portfolio and department. Identify billing and cross-selling opportunities
  • Training of new team members. This will include the payroll system, office and overall working procedures within the payroll department
  • Developing own team members providing general feedback on performance
  • Teambuilding and assisting where necessary with all members of the department.

Requirements:

  • Sound numeracy skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience in payroll, and the use of a computerised payroll system) or other relevant database
  • Personal and people management abilities including supervision, team building and conflict resolution
  • Proven ability to work effectively either as an individual or member of a team and relate effectively with staff on all levels
  • Proven ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new information, processes and procedures
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and identify and deal with problems
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products
