A Big 4 accountancy practice is currently looking to appoint a conscientious Audit Manager / Senior Manager to their Liverpool team on a permanent basis. As Audit Manager / Senior Manager, you will manage your own portfolio of diverse clients. In addition, you will take on the responsibility for agreeing audit timescales, briefing the audit team and other specialists, monitoring budgets and supervising the full audit process. You will be working with a mix of clients, from private equity back businesses, to multi-national PLCs. There may also be the scope to tailor your client portfolio based on your industry sector interests.

The Audit Manager / Senior Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing engagements, overseeing audit assistants’ work and ensuring compliance with the client
  • Overseeing and directing the budgeting, planning, co-ordination and control of engagements in accordance with client
  • Some liaison with tax team although previous experience not essential
  • Directing, coaching and mentoring Assistant Managers to assist them in the effective delivery of engagements and the direction of their subordinates ensuring cost effective, timely completion and effective service delivery to the required standard on each engagement
  • Nurturing and seeking worthwhile relationships with clients, business departments and staff, for the sharing of information and to identify and progress current and future Audit requirements
  • Assisting the Partner in monitoring the effectiveness of Audit services delivered, providing feedback and reflection on the quality of service accordingly

Essential Requirements are:

  • Completed ACA / ACCA with significant experience as a Manager in an external audit capacity
  • The role will require proficiency in IFRS and UK GAAP. US GAAP would be beneficial but not essential
  • Ambitious and well-presented candidate who is comfortable in developing client relationships and getting the best out of a team
  • Strong communication skills
